Dwon Otino Magazine is a Child Rights Magazine created by a group of children aged 8-14 years who have been trained to be child reporters/journalists. Each edition of the magazine addresses a specific child right and aims to sensitize children and give them guidance in abuse cases that may have happened to them or to people they know. The children’s articles and contributions are mixed with child-friendly professional contributions from various agencies like raising voices. Each page addresses different themes in relation to child rights like counseling, question and answers, work of journalist from the field, stories and poem, young artist corner and a painting completion section for children to win small scholastic materials. Topics such as games, like Granny Tales, comic strips, facts, and puzzles are meant to foster good morals, make children aware of issues happening around them, harness children’s creative potential, and help develop children’s linguistic skills. The magazine is written in two language English and Luo (a local language) with the aim of making it informative, educative and entertaining for the benefit of school going and out of school children. By incorporating articles written by children, the magazine provides the outside world a direct window to children's concerns.
