ACU NATIONAL CHILDREN’S PAINTING COMPETITION

Art for Children Uganda (ACU) has announced its first National Children’s Painting Competition for 2012. The painting competition is part of ACU programme for children to lift their voices on what affects them using a creative expression using ART. 

The theme for this year’s competition “What are my Rights”. Most children still do not know what their rights are and how they should enjoy their rights as well as how to maintain and protect their rights alongside their responsibilities. ACU is creating a platform for all children regardless of those with specific artistic talents to speak up and help sensitize people around Uganda and the world to promote child rights among children and communities. The Children can reach out to the world through art.

Art for Children Uganda is inviting children aged 6-17 years are for this competition. Children are invited to send original painting of their art work focus on the theme.  This should depict your settings where you spend most of your time like school, homes, play grounds etc.  Children can send their paintings with a brief description of the drawing not more than 100 words.

The competition entry deadline is October 31st 2012. The organizers encourage children from around Uganda to submit their paintings to Art for Children Uganda office Plot 8-10 Market Street, Junior Quarters, Adyel Division or P. O. B0x 66 Lira Uganda or call 256 392 845233 on how to send your paintings.

Winners will be selected through a fair and impartial selection process by the Selection Committee appointed by Art for Children Uganda. Winners will get the opportunity for their work to be displayed at the global level through our/partners websites. Winners shall be announced on 16th of November 2012.  The selected finalists will be published on facebook for public voting. The award ceremony of prizes will take place during the Northern Uganda Children’s Marathon 2012 in Lira.
All children who submitted a painting shall be awarded with certificates of participation and selected entries will also appear in the “Dwon Otino” Magazine and on our facebook page and website.
